THE EXPERIMENT
To define an entirely new branch of the immersive genre, creating a Modern Conversation Parlor for social bonding.
THE BRIEF
RTB conceived an interactive experience designed to facilitate rich conversation among strangers. By transporting audience members using extraordinarily detailed scenic design, audience-focused story setup, and skilled conversational facilitators, we developed a place where social expectations fall away and guests dig into rich, meaningful connections with strangers.
The 5,000sf Williamsburg venue hosts the interactive experience, a full bar and restaurant, and an after-hours nightclub. The entire space is built to resemble a Dead Letter Office – the type of facility the US Postal Service used for over 200 years to sort through lost packages and undeliverable mail – and within the venue are multiple transportive theatrical environments. From the screened-in porch in the middle of a thunderstorm to the pop-up camper under the Joshua Tree stars, these spaces are intimate, nostalgic conversation spaces full of interesting prompts.
