Paradiso: Chapter 1
IMMERSIVE ESCAPE GAME
BROOKLYN, NY
THE EXPERIMENT
To create an immersive experience that so thoroughly blends reality and story that guests are no longer certain where the game ends and daily life begins.
THE BRIEF
Blurring the line between fact and fiction – a decades-old immersive fascination – was the guiding principle for the Path of Beatrice – the VIP ticket option for participants in Paradiso: Chapter 1. Produced by Immersive Escape Productions, Paradiso was an escape room set apart by its deep narrative clues, extraordinary sets, and 5 live performers. Instead of a traditional escape room where guests puzzle their way out of a space with the occasional help of a puzzle master on a microphone, Paradiso guests puzzled together conflicting narratives and chose who to trust, with success dependent on one’s ability to find the truth.
The Path of Beatrice was another level entirely. Taking a page from cultural touchstones like “The Institute” and David Fincher’s “The Game,” this weeklong VIP experience brought the story into the real world with physical deliveries at homes and offices, surreptitious meetings in alleys and church courtyards, public interactions on the subway and enough theatrical mystification to have participants looking over their shoulder for weeks. Variety’s review said “Like Michael Douglas in ‘The Game,’ you’ll have moments of wondering if everyone around you is in on Beatrice.”
